Ian Thorpe Yes

Sorry. Councillor Thorpe? Yeah. I feel I have to. Your worship. Thank you. And I will support this because I do support it. But I hesitate slightly with the second part of the recommended motion, which involves three years of funding. For a program which we, at this point, really don't know how much use it will. Get, and I would have personally preferred some type of pilot project or engagement. Activity to try and. Judge usage and the worthiness of spending. Was it $75,000 a year for three years into the future. So that's my hesitation. I remember when the front street bike lanes were put in, we were assured, I think it was you, Mr. Rose, who told me that if we build it, they will come and maybe that's. True. But I can't help but feel that Kevin Costner is still out there. In the cornfield looking for Joe Jackson. Anyway.

Leonard Krog Yes

Ride from their home, out along the parkway trail or wherever they care to go and take it. Back. But the only way we're going to really reduce carbon footprint, because those trips are designed for athletic activity and good health is if people can actually integrate bicycles into their daily use. When they go for that short shopping trip or whatever they may do. And without these facilities, it's. Not going to happen.

Then Prino: Thanks, Mayor. Through you supportive of this? Thanks. A loudly voice request for quite a while from the community. So I'm glad that we're moving forward with it. My one question is just. Even with. Is there any programs that we have for tier four parking, like, just like the simple. Bike lock. I can't tell how many times I've been downtown most recently. All, the very few that are on commercial street are used up or in front of stores and I've just seen a growing number of very creative ways of people walking their bikes. Holding up back tire and locking it the handrails at the port theater, all sorts of poles. And I think even that simple infrastructure, do we have any way of supporting businesses that would like to put a tier one bike rack out in front of their house, in front of their store to be able to do that. Or tier four, like, just. A simple. Through your worship at this

time. We don't have a formal program, per se. I think that as you highlighted, those are. Probably a lot of quick win, really simple solutions. And I think that it's ones that the cheapest mechanism is just to start including. Them as part of road rebuilds and upgrades in retrofits. I think that. We do have some money that we've set aside annually. For. Sustainable end of trip facilities, and we've sort of been batting around different ideas as to what that could be used for. So there is possibility that we could tap into that. Recently we've been working with the old City quarter. To add some. Similar tier four type facility. So I think. That's definitely something we can push a little further on. And like I say, if we find some cost savings on the different years. We can definitely. Kind of maybe top up that type of program to fill in those smaller gaps. Okay,

great. Yeah, it's been definitely something that even store owners that I've come across have inquired about if there is something and something for our arts and culture and rec grants. I've seen some pretty artistic. Bike racks that have been. Created in other cities in that and also potential option, but I think. Some energy in there is worth
