staff's already working on this. As Councillor Armstrong has pointed out 60 days is going to take us into August. Um, this is likely to be coming back to us with a new council. Which makes sense. Um, maybe quarterly written status reports are a bit onerous. And so, but getting an annual report on, on, um. On, uh, where, where we're going with this. So with this is an annual governance and priorities, um, report that we get from staff on how we're working towards implementing better standards for our development permits. Thank you Councillor Hemmings and Councillor Armstrong.
Councillor Eastmear. We're probably going to Council Armstrong. Um, thank you. I'm not in favor of this amendment. Particularly the part about annual status updates. Like if this is an issue that we're serious about solving, um, getting an annual update, like that's like once every four years. And I think that's why we're in the situation because we all have known that this is not going like that this is an issue and one that we want to solve, but we haven't, um, had regular touch points on it to have that conversation about how things are going and what we can do, be doing better and how we can be better supporting staff. So I think like while we're really motivated to, uh, get a handle on this issue and make the situation better for the development community. That's why the quarterly updates are an important part of that. So that you have regular check - ins on like, how is it going? How could we better support you? Um, and then, you know, if the problem gets, um, sees real improvement, then you can kind of take your foot off the gas a little bit and be like, okay, like this is under control. But for now, I think that that part is really important. And then as far as the 60 days implementation plan for the implementation plan, I also think it's really important to have, uh, a sense of a deadline of when this is coming back to us. Because as we've said, there's so much that staff we're doing that like we can't afford for this to fall by the wayside because many of us are really motivated to, uh, see this situation improve. So I really appreciated the 60 day turnaround. And if staff need more time after that 60 days, they can come back to us and say that they need more time. And so be it. But I do think that's a key part of it. So I'm not in favor
