Councillor Armstrong Motion re: Consulting with Emergency Services Agencies Regarding Traffic Calming and Road Changes

Motion
That Council direct Staff to engage with RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department, and BC Transit prior to any traffic calming or road changes. It is requested each department speak with the drivers of said agencies to ensure their concerns are heard and furthermore any comments received by these agencies be included for Mayor and Council review.

Councillor Thorpe. To speak to it, I heard loud and clear from many ambulance drivers and police officers as well as some of the fire departments that they feel that their concerns are not being heard, that they're not being consulted and they've got a lot of concerns about some of changes, especially on emergency routes. So that's why I brought it forward, was on their behalf.
