Janice Perrino No

Councilor Prino. Thank you, worship. I understand why this motion has been put on. The floor, and I understand what the motive is. And I'm fine with that. However, I will not be voting in favor of it. I am for option a or option one for the larger facility that includes not only the boat, house as well as the larger facility. To be able to serve the community year round and a variety of community players. I understand that. That is not necessarily what everyone wants in this community. But that's where my vote will be. So I will be voting against this.

Sheryl Armstrong Yes

Armstrong. Thank you. I'll be voting in favor of this for the simple facts that we can get a boathouse. And the washrooms built, because if we don't have this motion, it doesn't. Get built. So I think it's important that staff take all the feedback that they've heard. From both groups and council and try and see if there's a way that we can come to a compromise that works for everybody's needs. So I think it's really important that this does get built. I originally voted in favor, but because of information received from council, Brown and others. I did change my vote so that we can look at better options and possibly even.

Ben Geselbracht Yes

Mayor through you. I think Loudon park is a very special place. It's highly used, and I think that there's an opportunity. To upgrade in a way. With amenities that the functionality will be very similar. Potentially to option a, depending on how it's phased and done. But I think that we can do it in a way. That will meet the needs of everyone, and I think that it's important for us to take the time to do this. Well. And. I appreciate the input from everyone. And look forward to putting my back behind. Moving this forward.

Paul Manly Yes

Thank you, Councilor McManley. Thank you. Through you, I am going to support this. I do see the need to get paddling. Facilities built. But I also hear the community in terms of. The other uses of this park. The city's growing, and this is a short distance away from. An urban center. A secondary urban center that is designated by the province because we have a transit exchange at country club. And we're not going to be allowed to say no to twelve story buildings going up. Around country club. So the demands on this piece of land. Are going to increase. And we're going to see more paddlers. And I'm a paddler myself. I was out kayaking around Newcastle. This weekend. It's something I love to do. It brings a lot of peace to me. And I see the importance of that for youth in the community, and I do want to see a good facility built that meets the needs of the community. And a growing community. So let's do this. Let's get it right. Let's make sure that the community is behind. What we do.

Leonard Krog Yes

To, but. I'm confident that staff will come back with a report that will be extremely fulsome. So the public will understand completely. Why various other plans have had to be changed or adjusted, whether it be set back from the high water mark as long Lake does fill up with water during the winter unless we stop raining. In the west coast of British Columbia entirely. Why it is not necessarily reasonable, I suspect, to believe that some trees are not going to come. Down to build the kind of facility we need. Why it is important that this community park not just be seen as a place for happy summer. Swimmers. Or walkers in the neighborhood, but for all of the people who. Were so nicely displayed tonight in the presentation. Of the Knuton and Amoku and Kayak Club who utilize this park year round. Involving hundreds of young people. I hate to say it, but there appears to be some division on this issue. I see a lot of young folks represented here. No disrespect. I'm a senior myself. But there are two different views of this. I see this park and the boathouse and related facilities as necessary to the encouragement of our youth and our community, and that is important to me. Having said that. I think it's time for us to finally vote on this. And as I say, I trust and hope that staff will give us a full range of options so that we'll be able to, Counselor Thorpe. In a second, we'll be able to. The public will be.

future consideration. Seconded counts are Armstrong. Mr. Sims. Before I let Councilor Prino speak to this. Is that motion going to be sufficient to enable staff to provide a range of options? I'm conscious of the fact the city's already spent a fair bit of money dealing with various designs
City staff answered
over the years, et cetera, thanks to worship. Dealing with the designs, it's probably appropriate to continue. To take the ones off the shelf that we have, dust them off, and take the input that we've received from council and from the community and return to council a future date with a revised budget and a revised scope of work that meets council's objectives and the community's objectives. Thank you,
